Carstens Amsterdam officially opened its doors on 5 February. With a fully booked restaurant and accompanied by mellow music playing softly in the background, everyone was ready for a culinary journey through the Netherlands. All guests, among them top chefs Robert Kranenborg and Soeniel Bahadoer, food influencers ELLE Eten, Your Little Black Book and Barts Boekje, were welcomed with a glass of sparkling Dutch wine.
MasterChef judge Marcus Polman hosted the extensive tasting and gave a warm welcome to concept chef Maik Kuijpers, Restaurant Manager Timo van der Stad and Chef Rick van der Meij. Afterwards guest speakers Karel de Graaf (Vineyard Domaine Karel de Graaf), Wilem in Voortwis (Lindenhoff) and Florian Hessel (Stooker Specialty Coffee) were invited to shared their own story and contribution to Carstens Amsterdam. This is how the foundation of Carstens Amsterdam was built: with ingredients from Dutch soil and waters, served with a twist. Appetizing, yet nothing too far-fetched.
